GC, NW Earendil Fire
Power of Rice Hope
CFA’s Twentieth Best Kitten 2003-2004
My name is
GC, NW Earendil Fire Power of
Rice Hope but they call me “Bugs”. I am a blue, male British
Shorthair and CFA’s Twentieth Best Kitten. Thora Hart bred me in
California but now I live in Florida with my new owners Emily and
Douglas Turner.
My kitten career
was a wild ride! Emily and I (sometimes I call her Mrs. Turner
because she’s so much older then me) traveled all over the
country. We rode in cars, vans, taxis and airplanes and I enjoyed
every minute of it. I love to travel! We met some great people.
The people in the airports, the hotels and even the taxis cab
drivers were nice to us. I think they really liked me.
One time in the
Baltimore airport I had my own room for the security inspection.
Lots of people kept coming in to inspect me. At first, I was
afraid I had done something wrong. But, I think they just wanted
to see what I looked like and to give me a little pat so they
could see what my coat feels like.
We went to some great places where Emily
said I did really well. One of those places was the National
Capitol Cat Show. I didn’t get to meet the President but Emily was
excited that I made all the finals. I’m not sure what that means
but the stuff she hung on my cage was very pretty. By Sunday
afternoon, I could barely see out my show cage.
The best trip of all was to the Cats!
Show New York in New York City. We went to a place called
Madison Square Garden. I was the “Big British Shorthair in the Big
Apple” when I took Best of Breed as a seven-month-old kitten. I
even got to be on TV. OK, it wasn’t just me. There were some other
great looking cats on TV with me. We all went down to the TV
station, sat in the Green Room and then looked great when they put
us on the evening news.
You have to know
British Shorthair kittens are slow maturing. In other words, we
aren’t known for being “shot out of cannons” when it comes to
getting big awards. I’m only the second British Shorthair kitten
to get a CFA National Kitten Award. It took all the support we
received to get us here and we are very grateful.
Emily and I want to thank a lot of nice
people who made this year so exciting and wonderful. We want to
thank Linda Acomb, Elaine King, Diane Beottcher and Gayle and Karl
Bowman for their very special support and encouragement, the
people who were benched beside us in the show hall and helped make
the weekends more fun and of course, the judges who liked me! We
also want to thank all the nice people who paid to come and see me
and all the other beautiful cats. Emily says that we would not be
able to have a cat show without them. Well, I don’t know about cat
show money things, but I sure did like all the nice things they
said about me.
Emily told me that sometimes life provides you with the perfect
opportunity. This is one of them. Thank you, Thora.
